PulleyGen with Mods (we didn't make the original)
Based off the highly popular HTD Pulley doc, our version adds several new features useful for creating custom pulleys. Here's what we added:
Integrated pattern spacers: A configuration allows you to add a pattern spacer to one flange of the pulley. This pattern spacer is 32mm in diameter, matching goBILDA's pattern spacers and standard sizing. The length of the spacer is configurable. No longer do you have to derive a pulley into a part studio to add a pattern spacer to it! Having it integrated also reduces part count of assemblies and makes manufacturing easier to keep track of.
Shaft reinforcement: Using Onshape's composite part functionality, we made a configuration to integrate a triangular aluminum plate into each side of the pulley. These plates are designed to reduce bore stripping on pulleys printed with a 7mm hex bore (which fits on an 8REX shaft). This function has been tested on a drivetrain by team 10355 Project Peacock with great success. The aluminum plates can be waterjet cut or laser cut by SendCutSend.
Back-side nut pockets: Have you ever needed to put two pulleys onto one wheel, one on one side and another on the other? This is a common problem in custom 6WD drivetrain design that is easily solved by adding nut pockets to the back side of the pulley. These hold the nylock nuts from the other pulley captive, making it easy to have the reliability of nylock nuts on both pulleys in a very compact package. The pockets are made with a 0.2mm tolerance for 3D printing, which is small enough to keep the nut from turning inside it.
Color Configuration: Oooh pretty colors (full hex-based color configuration coming soon)
Loony Belt Gen
The Loony Belt Gen functions as both a belt calculator and generator, fully inside of Onshape. It generates accurate belts from two pulley sizes and a tooth count. The calculated center-to-center is viewable as a variable for integrating into your designs. This doc generates belts with the following tooth profiles:
Each profile has been modeled from its manufacturer spec sheet, and all dimensions match the real belt. The doc includes mate connectors for easy assembly.
Basic Belt Gen
Basic Belt Gen allows for the creation of 6 different accurate belt profiles. These profiles are:
HTD3
HTD5
HTD8
GT2 (2mm)
GT2 (3mm)
GT3
Each profile has been modeled from its manufacturer spec sheet, and all dimensions match the real belt. The number of teeth, pulley center-to-center, and pulley sizes are all configurable, as is the thickness. The default material is neoprene.
This doc is useful when you already know the right center-to-center distance for your design and wish to add tolerance to the spacing without messing up the belt generation.
Beltgen + Calculator
This doc expands on the Basic Belt Gen's capability by offering the ability to measure the proper belt size for an application, eliminating the need for external calculators. Its tooth count, thickness, pulley size, pulley center-to-center, and tooth pitch are all configurable. Its teeth are not as accurately modeled as the Basic Belt Gen's, and their sizes are not configurable, but this doc will tell you if your selected pulley center-to-center and sizes are appropriate for the belt pitch you're using.
Round Belt Gen
This doc creates round belts in various sizes. The pulley diameter and belt diameter are configurable, and it includes a toggle to invert the belt into a figure 8. Mate connectors come pre-applied on all sizes.
Round Belt Pulley Gen
This doc creates round belt pulleys in various sizes. The pulley diameter and belt diameter are configurable, as well as the flange thickness. The bore diameter is also adjustable, and mounting holes can be added in either simple, counterbored, or countersunk flavors.
